01Feed characterization
Establish what the material contains before selecting a process. Appropriate mineralogical analysis, chemical testing, particle-size assessment and representative sampling can help identify target minerals, associated constituents and characteristics that may affect treatment.
02Process selection and testing
Evaluate methods suited to the mineral and the material's properties. Depending on the evidence, investigations may consider screening, sizing, gravity separation, magnetic separation, flotation or other appropriate techniques. No single method is suitable for every mineral or deposit.
03Separation and concentration
Where test results support it, suitable processing steps may separate valuable mineral fractions from unwanted material or produce a more concentrated stream. Performance must be demonstrated through appropriate testing; recovery, concentrate quality and process suitability should not be assumed in advance.
04Product quality and verification
Use representative sampling, suitable laboratory methods and documented quality checks to assess composition, impurities, consistency and other relevant product characteristics. Results should be traceable to the material tested and evaluated against the intended buyer or processor's specifications.
05Downstream readiness
Assess whether the resulting material may be suitable for a defined industrial application or further processing. Packaging, moisture limits, particle-size requirements, transport arrangements and supporting documentation should be determined according to the product, customer requirements and applicable regulations.
